Celebrating Occupational Therapy Month

April is Occupational Therapy Month, celebrating a profession that supports independence in meaningful daily activities.

April is a time to celebrate occupational therapy, a profession that is dedicated to helping others participate in meaningful activities or “occupations” as independently as possible.

For children, some occupations may include playing, learning, dressing, eating, and interacting with others. When these activities feel challenging, occupational therapists help build up the foundational skills needed to make daily activities easier and more successful.

Some main areas Pediatric Occupational therapists focus on are

  • Fine/Visual motor skills
  • Sensory processing/regulation
  • Motor planning/coordination
  • Self-care skills
