Growing Independence: Vivian

Two-year-old Vivian receives Nutrition Therapy from Manager & Pediatric Nutrition Therapist, Cindy Baranoski, MS, RDN, LDN, through Early Intervention. Through her diagnoses, she has made significant progress and continues to gain independence each day!

Two-year-old Vivian receives Nutrition Therapy from Manager & Pediatric Nutrition Therapist, Cindy Baranoski, MS, RDN, LDN, through Early Intervention. Vivian was diagnosed with Esophageal Atresia, hypotonia, and Down syndrome. She was supported with a G-tube, and as first-time parents, this was overwhelming to navigate. Through various formulas and feeding methods, she continued to gain weight and progress to table food.

Cindy guided Vivian, her GI doctors, daycare, and pediatrician to ensure the correct steps were taken to further her nutritional gains. Vivian soon became an enthusiastic, healthy eater; and recently had her G-tube removed! She now enjoys "Pizza Fridays" with her family and continues to gain more independence each day!

    At our Gala three years ago, we introduced Addy and Lily – twin sisters, who were born conjoined at the chest and spent nearly 11 months in the hospital before undergoing the surgery that would successfully separate them.

    We also honored a team of Easterseals therapists who supported Addy and Lily’s earliest achievements and are still a part of their milestones.
