Camp CommunicATe

Designed for adolescents who use AAC, this small‑group program supports social connection, idea sharing, and peer learning across communication styles.

This program is for children that are 13+ years old.

The program encourages natural social interaction while allowing members to learn by observing peers who use different forms of Augmentative and Alternative Communication. This focused therapy setting supports children and caregivers in connecting with AAC peers and confidently sharing thoughts and ideas. Therapy is delivered by speech-language pathologists working with 2-4 adolescents who are matched by age and goals. 

Who Should Participate?

Camp CommunicATe is designed for:
•     Middle school and high school students (13+ years old)
•     Adolescents who use an AAC method to communicate
•     Individuals looking to improve their social communication skills with peers

An initial evaluation will determine the appropriateness of your child’s participation in this program. If it is determined this program is not appropriate to meet your child’s needs, alternative recommendations will be provided.

Program Objectives

To Improve: 

  • Social communication skills
  • Interaction with peers
  • Parent coaching and tips for implementation of AAC devices

Mondays: 1:00pm - 2:00pm
at Villa Park location
